The difference between subway and light rail

Release time:2017-07-07 14:29:39  Views:

The main difference between the two systems of subway and light rail is in terms of traffic volume. Railways with large traffic volume and large passenger traffic generally go underground, called the subway, also called heavy rail; and when there are fewer people, it is called light rail. The usual measure is the hourly passenger flow at peak times, and more than 30,000 passengers are called the subway. The basic types of railway networks are: single-line, single-loop, multi-line, and spider. Each subway line consists of a section tunnel (ground or elevated) on the ground, stations and ancillary buildings. Stations are divided into four categories according to their functions:

       1. Intermediate station: It is only used for passengers to take the ride. The number of such stations is the largest.

       2. Turn-back station: There is a turn-back line equipment in the middle station, which is called a turn-back station. It is generally set up in a large traffic area in the city to meet passenger needs and save operating expenses.

       3. Transfer station: A station used for passengers to take and drop and provide passengers with a transfer.

       4. Terminal: The stations at both ends of the subway line are usually used for train staying, reentry, temporary repair and overhaul, in addition to passengers up and down or transfer.

Metro vehicles are an important part of the urban rail transit system and are also high-tech electromechanical equipment. Metro vehicles should be advanced, reliable and practical, and should meet the requirements of large capacity, safety, speed, beauty and energy saving. Metro vehicles include M, Motor and T (Trailer), with driver's cab and without driver's cab. The motor car itself has a power traction device, and the trailer itself has no power traction device; the motor car is divided into a motor car with a pantograph and a motor car without a pantograph.

When the subway vehicles are in operation, they are generally combined with dynamic towing and fixed grouping to form an electric train group. Because it has a power traction device and has both traction and passenger functions, unlike a railway train, there is no need to hang a separate locomotive.

The general subway vehicle consists of the following seven parts:

       (1) Body

The car body is the place to accommodate passengers and drivers (for vehicles with cabs) and the basis for installing and connecting other equipment and components. There are generally chassis, end walls, side walls and roofs.
